Inside the worksheet
How the core values worksheet works
Find your core values in four steps. Mark the ones that fit out of 62, narrow them to ten, rank your top five two at a time, and plan how to live them. It takes 25 to 35 minutes.
- 1
Mark the values that fit
All 62 values, each with a short meaning, grouped by the need behind them. Tick every value that feels like you, without thinking about order yet.
- 2
Narrow them to ten
Of the values you ticked, keep the ten you would miss most. Write them down the left of the comparison grid.
- 3
Rank your top five two at a time
Compare every pair of your ten in the grid and circle the one that matters more. Count the circles. The five values with the most are your top five, in order.
- 4
Live your top five
For each of your five, rate how fully you live it today from 1 to 10, describe what living it looks like, and choose one step for this week.

For therapists and coaches
Using it with a client
- 01
Before the session
Give the first page as homework. Ticking values alone, without anyone watching, gives a more honest first list.
- 02
In the session
Do the pair comparisons together. The pairs your client hesitates over are usually the conversation worth having.
- 03
After the session
The last page becomes the plan. Revisit the 1 to 10 ratings a few weeks later to see what moved.
For coaches and facilitators
Prefer to send a link?
Invite clients to rank their values online before your session. They compare their values two at a time, and you see their ranking on your dashboard when you meet.
- 01
Send an invitation
Add your client's name and send a link. No installation required.
- 02
They discover their priorities
Clients select the values that matter to them and compare them in pairs to build their ranking.
- 03
Start with their results
Review their ranking before the session and use it to guide your conversation.
Running a workshop?
Invite the whole group with one link. Collect participants' rankings in one place and use them to start a shared discussion.
A conversation starter. The ranking is a starting point for reflection. You and your client decide together what it means.

Questions
Questions about the core values worksheet
A core values worksheet is a printable exercise that helps you work out which values matter most to you. This one starts from a list of 62 values with their meanings, narrows your choice to ten, ranks the top five by comparing them in pairs, and ends with how you could live them more fully.
Rated one at a time, almost every value scores high. A choice between two makes the trade-off visible, and the order that comes out of all the pairs is more honest than one you write down at once. It is the same method the online ranking on Personalvalu.es uses.
Rank your values onlineMost people need 25 to 35 minutes. Marking the values takes about ten, the 45 pair comparisons between your ten values about ten more, and the plan for your top five the rest.
Yes. Print as many copies as you need for yourself, your clients, a class or a workshop, at no cost. Please keep the footer with the source on every page, and do not sell the worksheet or put it behind a paywall.
Is there an online version?
Yes. The same exercise runs online for free: you keep the values that fit, compare them in pairs and see your ranking straight away, without counting. Coaches can send it to clients and see their rankings before the session.
